Where These MTV Reality Stars Are Today

In the world of reality television, MTV has really paved the way. Whether it was the Californian stars of The Hills, the self-proclaimed guidos of Jersey Shore, or the challenged teens in Teen Mom, it felt like the network really had it all. For anyone who has been wondering what some of our favorite MTV stars have been up to since leaving our screens, here is where some of these reality stars are up to now.

Nev Schulman

We were first introduced to Nev Schulman through the documentary which detailed his suspicious online relationship. The movie was such a success that Schulman went on to become the host of the MTV series, Catfish, in which he assisted couples that met online to transition into real-life dating. Since then, Nev has competed on Dancing With the Stars and has become a father of two kids, who he had with his wife, Laura Perlongo.

Ashlee Simpson

Ashlee Simpson's big sister, Jessica, was the star of her own incredibly popular reality TV series, Newlyweds - Nick and Jessica. It did not take long for Ashlee to star in her own spin-off MTV series, The Ashlee Simpson Show, which showed the star as she made plans to release her first album. Following her days on reality TV, Ashlee has acted on Broadway a number of times. She has also since returned to reality TV with her husband, Evan Ross, having a show called Ashlee and Evan.

Eric Nies

The MTV reality series The Real World basically pioneered a whole genre of TV. Eric Nies, along with another 6 strangers, were recorded by multiple cameras as they lived together in New York. After his rise to fame, Eric then became a host on the dance show called The Grind. He also went on to star in another reality show, Confessions of a Teen Idol.

Johnny Knoxville

It is quite strange when we think about it, but there was a trend in the early 2000s in which people to injure themselves on TV for the amusement of others. Philip John Clapp, who is better known by his stage name Johnny Knoxville, was one of the pioneers of this sort of behavior. He created and appeared in the series Jackass, a stunt show that ran from 2000 and 2002. This developed into a movie franchise. Johnny has since started his own production company and furthered his acting career.

Jenelle Evans

One of the more controversial reality series that MTV created was Teen Mom. The show followed teenagers as they navigated life as young parents. Janelle Evans starred in the series 16 and Pregnant, and fans had an opportunity to follow up with her in the second season of Teen Mom. Due to some issues with her husband, MTV fired Janelle. She now has three children.

Aubrey O’Day

Making the Band was a pretty cool MTV series in which P.Diddy himself oversaw up and coming stars as they were placed in a band. One of these stars was Aubrey O'Day, who competed against 10,000 women for a spot in the girl group, Danity Kane. Aubrey scored the spot, but she was kicked out by Diddy after he though she had altered her image. Luckily, being rejected by Diddy did not stop Aubrey's career. She has scored roles on Broadway, returned to reality television, and has released new music.

Kristin Cavallari

Kristin Cavallari was first introduced to us on the reality series Laguna Beach - The Real Orange County, in which she starred for 2 years, from 2004 until 2006. After this, Kristin has had quite a successful reality TV career, appearing on The Hills and then having her own series, Very Cavallari. The series followed the lives of Kristin, her husband Jay Cutler, and their 3 children. Unfortunately, the couple called it quits in 2020. Kristin is also the founder behind the lifestyle brand, Uncommon James.

Ally Hilfiger

Although Rich Girls only ran for a single season, we have certainly not forgotten about this MTV reality series which followed Ally Hilfiger and her then-BFF, Jaime Gleicher, the daughters of two very successful businessman. Ally's father is none other than the fashion designer, Tommy Hilfiger. Following Rich Girls, Ally received her diagnosis of Lyme Disease. She authored a book detailing what it was like to live with the disease.

Jaime Gleicher

Jaime Gleicher was one half of the MTV series Rich Girls. She is the daughter of the businessman Leo Gleicher. Unfortunately, while filming the one season of the series, Jaime and her co-star Ally Hilfiger had a falling out. Following the show, Jaime struggled with an eating disorder. However, she has since recovered and has gone to college, where she received her master's degree. These days, Jaime works as a psychotherapist and specializes in anxiety and eating disorders.

Whitney Purvis

Whitney Purvis appeared on MTV's 16 and Pregnant as a high schooler who was pregnant at the same time as her mom. It is not surprising that Whitney struggled with the usual stresses of adult life, along with the additional stress of fame and motherhood. Whitney and her partner, Weston Gosa, has been together on and off throughout the years. The couple have two kids together. However, the two have run into quite a bit of legal trouble.

Mike Sorrentino

Mike Sorrentino has been in every single season of Jersey Shore, making him a big hitter in regards to MTV stars. He received a lot of endorsements from a number of brands which ended up making him a lot of money. However, Mike ran into some legal troubles. He also struggled with addiction, but in 2012 he sought treatment. Mike is married to Lauren Pesce, his college sweetheart. The two have a son together named Romeo.

Nicole Polizzi

We can not deny that one of the biggest stars we have seen emerge from MTV is Nicole Polizzi, aka Snooki. The star was basically the main event of the show Jersey Shore. Following Jersey Shore, Snooki had multiple appearances in other reality series and spin-offs. She has had 3 kids with Jionni LaVelle - her husband since 2014. The couple had a short-lived reality show together called Nicole and Jionni's Shore Flip.

Whitney Port

Whitney Port first began her career on The Hills, where she was portrayed as she worked alongside fellow cast member Lauren Conrad at Teen Vogue. Whitney then eventually made the move across the coast, relocating from California to New York, where she worked for the fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg. Fans were excited to see Whitney star in yet another MTV series, The City. Whitney has since had a son with her husband, her former producer Tim Rosenmann and has returned to MTV for the reboot The Hills - New Beginnings.

Lauren Conrad

Lauren Conrad is basically MTV reality royalty, being the first cast in the show Laguna Beach - The Real Orange County. In fact, fans loved the Californian star so much that she got her own spin-off show called The Hills. Throughout the years, we have witnessed Lauren's journey through friendships, love and career. Since leaving the world of reality TV, Lauren has launched a number of beauty and fashion lines. She also has two sons with her husband, guitarist William Tell.

Catelynn Lowell

We first met Catelynn Lowell on the series 16 and Pregnant. She then made another appearance on an MTV reality show - Teen Mom, in which fans were able to catch up with Catelynn's family. She put up her first baby for adoption and has since had two daughters named Vaeda and Novalee. Catelynn got married to her baby daddy, Tyler Baltierra, back in 2015. The two have also appeared on Couples Therapy and Teen Mom OG.

Olivia Palermo

The striking socialite Olivia Palermo appeared on the The City from 2008 until 2010. Olivia was shown as she worked at Diane Von Furstenberg, and then at Elle. Since then, Olivia has remained in the fashion world. She has appeared on the cover of a number of magazine, as well as is the ambassador for several brands and has various fashion partnerships. Olivia is married to Johannes Huebl, a German model.

Kelly Osbourne

On of the most viewed series on MTV was The Osbournes, which followed Ozzy Osbourne's chaotic personal life in which fans had to the opportunity to meet his wife Sharon and their two kids, Jack and Kelly. The show received an Emmy Award which propelled the already-famous stars into even more fame. Kelly has since dabbled in music, and has made other appearances on reality TV shows.

Angelina Pivarnick

We remember Angelina Pivarnick as the confrontational character on Jersey Shore. This attitude eventually led Angelina to being kicked out of the house in the third season of the show, after having pretty violent arguments with both Snooki and The Situation. She then decided to give the music industry a go and released a single, as well as appeared on Couple's Therapy. These days, Angelina is a registered ambulance technician and is married to Chris Larangeira. In 2018, she returned to MTV on Jersey Shore - Family Vacation.

Heidi Montag

One of the more dramatic transformations we have seen in Hollywood has been that of Heidi Montag. When we first met Heidi on The Hills, the Colorado-born blonde was ambitious and fresh faced. Then, Heidi became romantically linked with Spencer Pratt and her BFF Lauren Conrad dropped her. In 2010, she unveiled her new look which she achieved by having a total of ten cosmetic surgeries in a single day. The couple have appeared together on Celebrity Big Brother and have a son, Gunner.

Sammi Giancola

Sammi Giancola became an item with Ronnie Ortiz-Magro on Jersey Shore. The two had an on and off relationship for a number of years and then moved in together after the show wrapped up. Unfortunately, Sammi and Ronnie were never meant to be and Sammi has since announced her engagement to Christian Biscardi. Sammi has decided to opt out of reuniting with her cast-mates for Jersey Shore - Family Vacation.

Stephen Colletti

Following his time on Laguna Beach - The Real Orange County, Stephen Colletti chose to continue pursuing a career in this industry. He scored the character of Chase Adams in the series One Tree Hill, as well as played the part of Taylor Swift's love interest in her music video White Horse. Since then, along with his former co-star James Lafferty, Stephen has produced, written and starred in the series Everyone Is Doing Great.

Deena Nicole Cortese

Although she did not make it onto the first season of Jersey Shore, New Jersey native Deena Nicole Cortese was asked if she could join the cast for season three of the show. Just like a lot of her co-stars, Deena seems to have found that she enjoys the reality TV industry and has stuck with it. In 2014, she appeared on Couples Therapy, as well as joined her former cast-mates for Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. Cortese has two sons with her husband, Christopher Buckner.

Amber Portwood

Amber Portwood was only 18 when she gave birth to her daughter Leah, who she had with Gary Shirly. She was engaged briefly to Shirley before the two called it quits. Following a film released of Amber being physical towards Gary, he received full custody of their daughter and she spent some time incarcerated. Since then, Amber has appeared on TV and has spoken about the experience. She has also had a son with James Glennon, but he has restraining order against her.

Mike Mizanin

MTV star Mike Mizanin or 'The Miz' first made an appearance on the hit show The Real World - Back to New York. After that he went on to compete in spin-off Road Rules, before eventually hosting The Challenge. It took many people by surprise when The Miz became a very succesful wrestler for WWE. He is married to Canadian wrestler Maryse Mizanin, and they even had a reality series together titled Miz and Mrs.

Bam Margera

Proffesional skateboarder Bam Margera is best known for his crazy stunts on Jackass, but he has since created his own shows including the crazy show Viva La Bam. In a different series Bam married Melissa Rothstein, but the marriage did not end up lasting. Later, he married Nicole Boyd and they had a son together, Phoenix. Margera has dealt with serious addiction issues his entire adult life that have ended up with him getting into legal trouble.

Maci Bookout

Maci Bookout was one of the original mothers on Teen Mom, after giving birth to her son Bentley in 2008. She has since had two more kids, daughter Jade and son Maverick with motocross racer Taylor McKinney,. Maci had major issues with her first baby daddy and even had to take out a restraining order against him. These days Maci and Taylor run a clothing brand called Things That Matter or TTM.

Jack Osbourne

The Osbournes featured Black Sabbath's front runner Ozzy Osbourne's family including his two children Jack and Kelly. After a while it became clear that like his father, Jack was struggling with addiction issues. During his recovery he made an appearance on multiple reality shows focusing on fitness. He also starred with his dad Ozzy on a travel show where the pair traveled all over the world visiting historical sites.

Wes Bergmann

One of the cast members of the iconic 2005 series, The Real World - Austin, was Wes Bergmann. Wes played a frat boy that was eager to start up his own business following his graduation. Wes remained in the reality TV world for a while and regularly competed in a spin-off of the series, The Challenge. Wes is apparently one of the highest earners of this show.

Ryan Sheckler

There was time back in the mid '00s that skateboarding was basically everything. This meant skateboarders were practically royalty, and Ryan Sheckler was, for all intentions, the king. Ryan was a skater whose life was documented on the reality series Life of Ryan. However, he decided to quit the show after feeling like it was distracting him from his one true passion - skateboarding. These days, Ryan is still considered to be an influential skateboarder.

Jenni Farley

Jenni Farley or better know as Jwoww was one of the Jersey Shore main eight, and she made her career in reality TV. After her stint on the main show she appeared in spin-offs Snooki and Jwoww, and Snooki & Jwoww - Moms With Attitude. Farley has two children, Meilani and Greyson with her former husband Roger Matthews. In 2012 she got engaged to pro wrestler Zack Carpinello on top of the Empire State Building.

Jamie Chung

Jamie Chung is arguably the most succesful cast member from the show The Real World. After first appearing on The Real World - San Diego in 2004, he competed on multiple of its spin-off shows. Chung later scored some movie roles in Big Hero 6 and Sucker Punch. Her movie career did not really take off but that did not stop her from continuing to thrive in the TV world by getting roles in Once Upon a Time and Lovecraft Country.

David Giuntoli

David Giuntoli is yet another MTV alumni to make a very succesful career for himself. He first appeared in Road Rules in 2003, then continued with the show in subsequent seasons. He later moved to Los Angeles and scored many roles in some popular TV shows including Grey's Anatome, Nip/Tuck, and Veronica Mars. He met his wife Bitsie Tulloch on the set of Grimm and the couple have a daughter together, Vivian.

Max Joseph

Max Joseph was the cameraman in the hit investigative TV show Catfish. Eventually the filmmaker was replaced by Kamie Crawford when he decided to move on from the show in 2018. Before signing up for Catfish in 2012, Joseph worked as a filmmaker and created a few documentaries. Since leaving the show Max continued to create films and directed Zac Efron in drama We Are Your Friends in 2015.

Theo Von

Theodor Capitani von Kurnatowski or Theo Von was just 19 when he first appeared on Road Rules: Maximum Velocity Tour. Later he appeared and won multiple seasons of The Challenge. After finishing his MTV career Theo Von decided to pursue a career in stand up comedy. His stand up career was a hit and Netflix picked up his special No Offense in 2016, and in 2017 he made a comedy album called 30lb Bag of Hamster Bones.

Paul DelVecchio

Paul DelVecchio or better known as DJ Pauly D was the first of the Jersey Shore members to get his own spin-off show, The Pauly D Project in 2012. Pauly was a DJ before getting cast on the show and he went on to sign with 50 Cent's label in 2011. He opened up for Britney Spears in 2011 and continued to make appearances in reality TV shows. He has starred in Revenge Prank, Double Shot at Love, and Famously Single.
