Oh, Now I Get it! After Consulting the Internet, These People Finally Understand Their Odd Everyday Objects
One of the beauties of the Internet is that we have access to endless knowledge at the tips of our fingers. Not just that, but the answers to all of our questions can be received within an instant. So, when we have something at home that we're not sure what’s its purpose, who we gonna call? The Internet, of course. After consulting other citizens of the World Wide Web, these people were able to understand the function of their odd everyday objects. From yellow mesh grids on telephone poles to the wondrous “miracle eye”, do you know what these objects were actually meant for?
A Way to Remove Food Scents
Chopping up veggies can be incredibly fun and adding things into your meals like garlic can really take your flavor spectrum to the next level. But sometimes, it can leave you with a bad taste in your mouth, or more accurately, a bad smell in your hands. But have no fear! This weird little metal oval is actually a stainless-steel bar of soap that’s created especially for this issue. Rubbing your hands on stainless steel removes the scent of garlic, onions, and even fish from your hands since it removes those smelly molecules that have transferred onto your skin. How cool!
Suspicious Suspension
This is actually a very good question—what exactly are these little specks perfectly hanging in an organized row below the cabinets? Well, these little pieces of “thread” with dots at the end are actually eggs of the tiny green insect, the lacewings. Sure, the idea of bugs might be a bit gross to some people, but how cool is it that they lay their eggs suspended in air? Who would’ve thought? What a wild world we live in!
Hooked on This Mystery
Have you ever seen these over-sized metal rings around your local park in the city? While some people might mistake them for public art pieces, this reddit user revealed that if you take a closer look, you’ll see some hooks located on the inside. And just like they suspected, there is an actual purpose for this trio of metal circles! Apparently, these are little swing hooks for people to use when they want to enjoy some personal hammock time at the park. How adorable!
Failing a Test
Finding a foreign object in your food usually doesn’t mean something good—and it wasn’t until this person posted this picture of their sour cream wafer chips that they discovered what this blue chip was. Apparently, this blue chip with the text “ferrous 25mm BST, cert number 213026B” written on it is actually a test disc. What is that exactly? Basically, it’s a manufacturing testing chip to make sure there are no foreign objects inside the product. Which means that this is a failed test and that the detector didn’t work, and the manufacturers never found it. Yikes!
A Vintage Shaving Set
When we think about the development of inventions over the years, many of us might jump straight to technology. But that’s not the only thing that’s been upgraded over time. Take for instance this “weird cup thing”. According to the wondrous World Wide Web, it’s used for wet shaving and for keeping your soap lather nice and hot for a smooth shave. Especially with men’s facial hair care in the rise, it might be cool to hold on to one of these!
A Show-Stopping Door Stopper
This is clearly some form of a child’s something, but what exactly is this? Well thanks to some Reddit users, things were cleared up and we learned that this hard foam cow is actually a door stopper for babies and toddlers. How cute! This adorable cow-shaped door stopper is also known as a “Finger Pinch Guard” and is a great way to make sure you’re keeping your doorways baby proof. You can buy all sorts of adorable animal shapes to put all over your doors in the house for a great price online.
Overseas Inquiries
When it comes to unique items like this, the people of the internet are sure to help out with an investigation—especially when it comes to overseas inquiries. All the way over in Miraflores, Lima, Peru someone found this carved wooden hand object along the beach. And after uploading and image to Reddit, their prayers to solve this mystery were answered. It turns out that this is actually a healing tool—a ceremonial chonta staff—that Shaman’s use during special Peruvian healing ceremonies, including the all-night San Pedro ceremony.
Keep the Birds Away
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s a … bird flight diverter? That’s right, we said a bird diverter. This spinning wind turbine hanging from the telephone lines is an invention created to divert birds away from the lines, both for their safety and for the lines themselves. The device is meant to work like a visual warning not to get near the electrical wires and can come in all sorts of shapes, colors, and sizes. Sometimes they even glow in the dark.
A Little Ventilation
Sometimes, some of the weirdest things aren’t as odd as you think they’ll be. And then other times, they truly are. This innocent passerby asked the experts of the Internet what these rusted contraptions located all over their local park and running track were. Apparently, they’re just underground gas vents, but something tells us that perhaps they should come with some warning signs attached to them to keep your distance. Then again, not all gasses are harmful and these vents seem to be safe if they’re located in public areas.
A Way to Track Your 5K Walks
This next item was found near a military camp out in a forest in the Netherlands. To a regular civilian this weird carabiner-beaded rope chain might seem like some weird climbing tool, but for military trained soldiers on the other hand, this is a simple measurement tool. They’re known as ranger beads and are there to help soldiers measure how far they’ve traveled on foot—every time they walk 100 meters, they can move on bead from the bottom to the top. The “nine” beads on end is to count the tens (10-90 meters), and the “five” beads on the other end is to keep track of the hundreds (100-500 meters).
Thousands of Years of History
Finding a rock shaped as an arrow or spearhead definitely can be something cool and iconic. Interestingly enough, this person found this unusual piece back in East Nashville, Tennessee—that’s not something you would’ve seen coming! What is this special stone, though? Some people believe that it might be a cultural arrow from the Native American Hopewell tribe. The Hopewell people were known to live around the Midwest around 1,000 B.C. to 1,000 A.D, which makes this ancient find that much more intriguing.
Diverting Deposits, Dirt, Dust, Etc.
At first glance, this might look a little bit like an old, dirty, perhaps expired fire extinguisher. According to the person who posted this picture, they believed that it’s something that’s clearly attached to the water line in their basement, but “doesn’t seem to serve any purpose”. It does have quite an important purpose though! This device here is a sediment filter, which filters out deposits, dirt, dust, etc. from our water. If it’s leaking like this person claims it is, you might want to call up a professional to get it checked out.
Demagnetize the Situation
We’ve come such a long way with technology in the past few decades that it’s almost hard to believe that some odd and vintage looking inventions existed in our lifetime. But it’s okay, there’s no reason to get all charged up if you don’t recognize what this is. What we have right here is a cassette demagnetizer. Cassette tapes are actually covered in a magnetic coating, and sometimes they start to accumulate a magnetic field that needs to be demagnetize. That’s when this special device comes into play and saves the day!
Construction Toys
This next object sort of looks like one of the pieces you would find in a child’s building K’NEX toy sets. And honestly, that’s not too far off from what this object is. This is a special device used in construction known as “spacer wheel”, and is used to keep the reinforced steel (a.k.a. “rebar”) in place before pouring in the final round concrete. These cute little devices then become part of the finalized structure, since they stay in place there until the concrete hardens.
Double the Trouble
Back in the day before typing and texting, writing things down with ink was all the rage. But having one of these bad boys truly was a treat! This right here is a double inkwell, something that was quite heavily used until the early 20th century when fountain pens became a thing. One “well” was for your ink, and the other you could use to wash your dip pen from the ink. Or, if you wanted to spice things up, you could just have two sets of different inks sitting in each well. Talk about double the trouble!
Keeping Critters at Bay
This might look a little bit like a dirty sprinkler set or something to do with spiders to the average joe, but to someone who has a herd of animals, then you know exactly what this is. Experts on the Internet enlightened this fellow Reddit user that this device is called an “electrostatic animal guard”. If one of the critters around the area touches it, then it’ll give a gentle warning to back away. Don’t worry, the shock isn’t strong enough to injure the animal and is widely used to protect animals from dangerous areas.
Spruce Up Your Plants
Now the name for this object is way less sweet and romantic than what its purpose is, but if you don’t already recognize this object, you’ll be blown away to know that something like this exists. What we have right here is called a “flower frog”, which is pretty much just a flower arrangement organizer. What you do is stick the stems of the flowers through these holes, and it keeps the flowers in place and in a beautiful arrangement. They come in different shapes, sizes, and designs to spruce your floral game up. How adorable!
Reflect Zone
You know how runners and bike riders will wear those special safety reflective material jackets or accessories so that other motorists and drivers can see them at night? Well, these “yellow things” on the telephone poles located around southeast Pennsylvania are pretty much utilized for the same concept. These yellow mesh grids are known as grid reflectors, and their purpose is to help drivers see utility poles while they’re driving—especially around the dark countryside roads and rural areas.
City Planning That Doesn’t Stink
When it comes to city planning and construction, sometimes it’s hard to really understand what the municipality was thinking during their brainstorm sessions. This concerned citizen is wondering why workers built this “very large concrete structure” right next to the brand-new paved two-lane road. Well, it turns out that this bunker-like structure is actually for stormwater retention so that the area’s sewage system and drains are kept under control during storms. That seems like some good city planning to us!
WARNING! What Is This?
There’s always something so intriguing, and yet oh-so-terrifying when you find an unidentified object in your crawlspace, basement, or attic. But this person didn’t just find an unidentified object, they found a warning sign that came along with it. And any time you see the word “WARNING” in red, it doesn’t exactly mean something good. According to the people of the Internet, though, this was actually just related to a septic tank used back in the day. But in any case, if you find encased boxes or a warning sign that reads “Warning, Do not enter, poison gas” then you should probably call a professional or the authorities to come check it out themselves.
The Interior of an Accessory
It’s always a little intimidating when you think of something retractable with spikes on the end. It sort of reminds us of the Chinese finger trap toys we used to play with as kids. If we personally had to take a guess, it looks like this nifty device could be a 2-in-1 piece of jewelry, though! One of those expandable one-size-fits-all type of rings, that also turns into a bracelet. However, according to some savvy Internet experts, apparently this is closure that you’d find in the interior of a hand bag. How cool!
Unusual, Yet Useful
Look at this investigative person providing a decent number of details about this “unusual teapot” from the type of material it’s made from to whether it’s marked up or not. This adorable little tea cup actually had quite an important and useful purpose back in the day. It was known as an “invalid’s cup”, and was actually used in the early 20th century to help those who were injured, bed ridden, too weak to eat solid foods or drink properly.
Under the Sea, Under the Teeth
It’s amazing that this person held onto this for two decades! Not just that, but they claim to have been trying to figure out what this odd object has been this whole entire time. Looks like they were thanking their lucky stars when they discovered they could upload a picture of it to Reddit and finally (and hopefully) put their curiosity to rest. At a quick glance, this might look a little bit like the underside of a turtle or tortoise—but that’s not quite what’s happening here. These are actually the teeth of the freshwater fish, the drum fish. We wonder if the Little Mermaid had this in her collection.
Oh, Bugger!
There are so many different species of animals and insects in the world, that it’s almost impossible to be able to recognize all of them. But with the wonders of the World Wide Web, we’re able to combine our knowledge and solve mysteries faster than ever before. So when this Reddit user posted a picture of this “Weird squirming living Lovecraftian nightmare”, their prayers were quickly answered. Apparently, this little bugger is a hag moth larva, or for a more cute and friendly name, “monkey slug”.
Ohs in the Sky
You remember how the Caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland would blow those “Ohs” when he exhales smoke from his hookah? Well according to a physics expert on Reddit, the same type of thing happens when am electrical transformer catches on fire. Yikes! “The phenomenon you have observed is called a soliton, a self-reinforcing wave. They can be surprisingly stable, ring structures especially. It's caused by the rotation motion of the smoke from the cylindrical jacket on the transformer,” user MrJoshiko posted.
Ah, Poo!
Remember how we mentioned that there are so many species of insects and animals that live on our beautiful home we call Earth that many of us are absolutely unaware about because there’s pretty much too many to encounter. Well, here’s another interesting insect species for you! This poor resident has been cleaning up these white specks repeatedly, but they keep showing up. Why? Because they’re actually the larva of “frass” which is pretty much insect poop. So, if you’ve got this going on in your cupboard, it’s best to call up your landlord to take care of this.
Tick, Tock, Shush
This next discovery is a pretty fascinating one! Even though technology is constantly developing and things like watches and clocks have truly upgraded in the gadget hi-tech world, there’s still something so precious about the vintage simplicity of older clocks. Do you know what the “miracle eye” switch was for clocks back in the day? It was a way for the clock to detect whether there was light around it or not. If there was light, then it would chime normally every hour, and if there was darkness, it could just quietly keep on ticking until morning time, so it wouldn’t disturb you from sleeping. How cool!
A Piece of Space That’s Taking Up Space
This next find is something that definitely took a little bit of extra research from the helpful and savvy citizens of the Internet. The user who posted this “disk” described it as made of polyester, fiber glass, or flimsy aluminum and 3-meters (about 10 feet) wide in diameter. They even have their adorable dog in there for size reference—that is one big piece of metal! And what it is is actually quite extraordinary: apparently this was a piece of rocket that fell from the Chinese Long March 3B failed rocket launch that occurred in Guam in 2020.
Don’t Remove History
When grandpa says don’t do something, there must be a reason, right? But what we’ve learned over the years, is that now we have the ability to access the answers to these questions and curiosities about what we should and shouldn’t do. So when this Reddit user uploaded this picture of something you’d see from Indiana Jones or Tomb Raider, you can imagine how excited they were to know this was a true piece of custom-carved Aztec history. A fellow Redditer further shared that this was a Jade Aztec Sun Stone, which is a representation of Aztec mythology and the five consecutive worlds of the sun.
Giddy on Up
This is one instance where it might seem like the people of the Internet were as accurate as they would be, but they’re pretty spot on. When this user posted a picture of what looks like an ancient artifact found in the woods around Knoxville, Tennessee someone was ready to giddy on up and shed some light. They suggested that it was a piece of a vintage horseshoe set, and even though it looks a little bit like an ancient artifact with all of those markings and carvings, they were right!
You Know You’re From 2020 When…
In pretty much every single day there is some new gadget or app that’s coming out and making our world and lives more convenient. Just like this little device that we have right here. Anyone knows what this turn of the century invention is? Well, this is a germ key. Contrast to its name, it’s actually a little tool that you can use to open and close doors and protect you from direct contact with, you guessed it, germs from common shared areas.
Weeping Trees
This oddball is something that you’d definitely see in Wonderland or some other whimsical and mythical forest. But this unidentified and unusual “object” is something that exists in our world and can be found in other places, not just Sweden. What exactly is this 20-centimeter-long (around 8 inches) of gobbley goop? Turns out that this is actually a type of tree fungus! That’s right, sadly enough, this trippy, ooey, gooey, piece of lump is a tree fungus that pops up when a tree is sick, and the fungus will literally “weep”, or do what is scientifically known as “guttation”.
Bombs Away
Thanks to the wonders of the Internet, another recent mystery was solved back in 2019. It seems like there are all sorts of interesting stuff to find around Tennessee. From a Native American Hopewell tribe arrowhead stone to a child’s horseshoe game piece, this discovery definitely deserves its own category of interesting finds in the South. “There was a military high school called the DeBerry Academy in the area. [This] missile used to be mounted on a plinth outside a building called Ivy Hall,” a clever Internet detective shared with the two brothers who posted this picture.
Functionally Oversized Tools
This is a pretty interesting object to inherit and we can understand why someone would be confused about whether this is functional or not. But thankfully the beautifully encouraging and wise people of the World Wide Web has shared that this wrench can in fact be functional! Super big structures like the Space Needle in Seattle, Washington or the Statue of Liberty in New York have oversized nuts and bolts that needed an oversized wrench like this to tighten them back into place. How funny!
Welcome to the Organically-Made Arena
What a beautiful and fun looking structure! This pretty much looks like the organic version of a child’s jungle gym. But what exactly is this? Apparently even the Reddit users were a bit baffled by this scaffold-like structure. But considering that it was located near a paintball/airsoft field, then they guessed that it was probably a maze that was part of the arena. Which just makes us that much more excited to want to fly over to Europe and find this place!
Gone but Not Forgotten
Remember how we mentioned that there’s usually something that’s pretty intriguing, and yet oh-so-terrifying when you stumble upon an unidentified object either in your crawlspace, basement, or attic? Well, we forgot to mention underground, too. These folks thought that maybe this concrete slab was some sort of a coffin, but alas, they were a bit off. According to the people of the Internet, this is yet again, another septic tank. These aren’t that rare to find on farms, but still an interesting part of history.
Yeah, Science!
Yuck! That would gross us out, too, if we found that in our closed-canned beverage. Basically what the concerned citizens of Reddit shared is that it seems like there was either an error with the product, or some sort of chemical reaction that caused this “squishy thing” to come to formation. Way to go, science! “I’m also involved in making new processes to prevent issues like this one. I don’t work for monster, but for an ingredient supplier. We see a lot of crazy things happen,” user PlangentDuct shared in reply to the post.
A Golden Piece of History that Google Couldn’t Find
Google can be such a great tool to discover and learn new things, but Reddit’s “What Is This Thing” feature truly saved the day with this mystery right here! You wouldn’t think it by looking at these gold-plated brass bear pins that they would represent something so powerful and significant, but they do! The “RRW” represents the Russian War Relief program from WWII, with the bear symbolizing Russia and the “V” for Victory and these little pins are from that time in history.
It’s Getting Hot in Here
Well, if there’s an unidentified object located in a lab for years and years, something seems a bit fishy. Shouldn’t things be accounted for and observed at all times? Regardless of that, their questions were answered by the Science champions of Reddit. Apparently, this is a research lab’s version of a fire extinguisher known as a “fire grenade”. The thin, fragile glass releases a concoction that would put out a fire as soon as you throw it. Who would’ve thought?
Flying Solo
Look at all of these beautiful marbles sitting perfectly in place. This is actually a one-player board game that goes by many names—Marble Solitaire, Peg Solitaire, the list goes on. Basically, it’s like Solitaire the card game, in that this game is played by one person with only your own mind as competition. The point is to get all of the marbles off of the grid, and the only way to move them off is to “jump” them over another marble. We’re sure you can find an app for it nowadays, but there’s still something special about having a hands-on version.
Going Up!
You must be thinking to yourself, what is the point of this gigantic chest drawer if there are no actual drawers inside? Is it a prop for a set on stage on for film? Or maybe it’s just broken? Well, the truth is that this is a flat file cabinet or an artist’s cabinet. Think of it as a vertical filing cabinet, that allows you to file artwork, oversized layouts, papers, anything that would need to be laid out perfectly flat without any corruption to it. Pretty handy to have if you think about it!
Absolutely Jarring
Some objects on this list aren’t exactly everyday objects that you can use or relevant to our day and age, but this next one is actually one that’s great to have even today! This plastic triangle with metal teeth is a jar opener, making it so much easier to open up that tight jar—by using science to your advantage. We know, it’s so jarring and cool! It’s sort of like having a bottle-opener on the bottom of your flip-flop (yes, those really do exist).
The Next Generation of Schooling
We’re actually surprised that whoever posted this didn’t ask a teacher or something about what this is, but we’re here to help out! This is an AV1 device that allows students who are physically away from class to participate and engage in learning. The AV1 has a camera, microphone, and built-in speaker so that they can still hear, see, and respond vocally to what’s going on in class. You can even take this little guy on field trips and walk around the school, too. How cool!
Wash Away Your Pain
These might look like funky lampshades from the ‘60s or something that are missing light bulbs, but they’re not. Lighting up the alleyway is important, but this invention could truly be a lifesaver. Remember those special showers and eye washers you had in the back of your science classroom? That’s pretty much what this is! These are special showers used for emergencies, like if you were exposed to hazardous chemicals. Emergency showers are crucial to have, especially in a place like a hospital.
Art Supplies for the Kitchen
If you don’t know what we have here, then you might think that it's some sort of art tool or something—and you’re not that far off. The art of bread baking has resurfaced in recent years as a fun DIY kitchen project for people. But for those of you who haven’t hopped on the bandwagon yet, then we can understand why these tools might seem a little confusing. These items are known as lahm (a blade) and a bench scraper.
The Time-Consuming Clock
The “Mengenlehreuhr” or “Set Theory Clock” was invented in Germany as a device that tells time in a mathematical way—by adding and multiplying the glowing lights in each line. It was eventually decommissioned, but the iconic invention still stands in Berlin. This invention is pretty cool, but it also seems to be a lot more complex than it needs to be. Having a normal digital clock to tell the time is much easier, more convenient, and a literal time-saver.
Table that for Later
When you see this, what do you think of? It reminds us of the game Jacks. You know, the game where you had to throw a ball in the air, pick up as many little jacks as you could before the ball hit the floor, and then catch the ball. But this isn’t a game at all. This little gadget is a “trivet”, the barrier that you put your hot serving dishes on to protect the table from burning. The beauty of this device is that it’s flexible, so you can arrange it for different-sized platters.
When Are You Free This Week?
The fact that there are days inscribed on this object should be able to give a clue about exactly what this is. But since we’re in the 21st century, there’s no shame in not knowing what this is. It's a Victorian chatelaine aide memoir—which is pretty much like a vintage planner made of ivory. Nowadays, we have our phones and the cloud to keep track of our schedule, so there’s no need for it anymore. Oh, how technology has developed.
Whoopsie Poopsie
Explaining what this is really hurts us, but not everything in life is going to be full of sunshine and rainbows. What we have right here is a case of termites. And those grain-like things are their droppings. Yikes! So, if you run into this problem, then it’s time to call in an exterminator. Thank goodness for the Internet to help out with this sort of thing.
Can You See Anything on the TV?
As you can see, this person added in half a banana for size reference. So, whatever this object is, it’s clearly something super big. So what is it exactly? We’re actually not entirely sure this time, but according to the citizens of the Internet, this object that fell on a roof is a TV antenna. Apparently, they fall down more often than you think, so look out!
H-2-Hello!
This might look incredibly creepy, but this is one of the coolest inventions yet! This bad boy right here is wave-powered desalination. It takes saltwater and converts it into freshwater! But the coolest part about it all is the fact that it’s actually powered by the ocean’s waves. This is definitely technology at its best. We’re just sad to see that it’s been washed up to the sea. Hopefully, the little guy is okay.
Looks Can Be Deceiving
We know that this fascinating work of art looks mesmerizing, but that doesn’t mean that it’s something good. This person didn’t want to do her dishes because of how wondrous this pattern looked, but what she didn’t know is that this is pretty much a build-up of bacteria film—or bacteria pellicle for the scientific term. We hope that she was able to figure that out quickly so that she could scrub away her clearly very dirty and unsanitary dishes.
It’s a Match!
Over the past few years, Tinder has taken the world by storm with its match-making skills. But back in the day, tinder had a completely different meaning. This is a vintage tinderbox, used to collect materials that help start a fire. Ironically enough, the need for tinderboxes disappeared once match became a thing. Is the correlation between terms and words for tinderboxes and the dating app Tinder a coincidence? We think not.
A Russian Doll’s Toy Accessory
Some people on the Internet have claimed this item to be something “to transport necklace chains in luggage without them tangling”. However, others think this is a part of a sewing kit, known as a darning egg, which is used to store your thread for sewing. What can we say? There are some things that even the detectives of the World Wide Web have trouble solving. But, of course, perhaps the right person just hasn’t seen the post yet.
Welcome to the Club
Your first thought might be that this is some sort of toilet paper roll or something, but it’s way cooler than that! It might not look it, but this right here is a very special device used for home security known as “The Door Club”. We’re not sure why this one is installed into the wall, but usually, you attach it to the bottom of your door. Once it’s installed into your door properly, you can drop the latch in the middle to lock into the floor to prevent the door from opening.
Fob, Lock, and Drop it
When we think about security systems, many of us imagine surveillance cameras and other types of technology devices. Right? But centuries ago, the high-tech gadgets that are part of our lives today were barely even a thought. So, what did they do to protect themselves from thieves? One way was by using this Antique Pocket Watch Fob to prevent pickpocketers from stealing with pocket watches. This one specifically is in the form of an acorn, and the spikes would shoot out and create a force strong enough to prevent the watch from being stolen.
Ding, Ding, Ding! We Have a Winner!
Sometimes, it isn’t until you’ve settled into your new home that you start to find all these little things around the house from the previous owners. Just like this little white device hanging up high on one of their walls. The residents of this house had no idea what this was, but a fellow Reddit user mentioned that it was probably an old doorbell chime. We’re not exactly sure ourselves, but that sounds about right to us.
Choo Choo!
Sometimes you find gadgets laying around the house from your precious owners—like Door Club security systems or old doorbell chimes. But other times, you might find some actual objects and items that aren’t related to the home necessarily. This is definitely an interesting object that illuminates our curiosity, especially since you can tell it’s an antique item from the rusted exterior. Apparently, this is a vintage Acme lantern from back in the day—they would also make railroad lanterns, so maybe this is one of them.
Don’t Eat These Pods
Whether it’s at a friend’s place or in the office, it’s safe to say that anything you find under anyone’s kitchen sink is most likely used for cleaning or maintenance. And this case is no different! Those little yellow balls are most likely garbage disposal pods. They are little pods that help you clean out your garbage disposal, remove build-up and clogging, and tackling odors & grime. It’s a pretty handy thing to have around the house.
Have You Upgraded Your Phone Yet?
To the untrained eye, this might just look like a very weird lamp post. And honestly, that's not that far off. But this is so much more than just a source of light to illuminate your path in the darkness of the night. According to the Internet, this is a 5G service transmitter model. They come in different forms, but now at least you know what one of them looks like. Pretty soon, we probably won’t even notice the difference.
Chillin’ Like a Villain
Reddit user V-by-V posted up this picture during their trip to Germany. We would’ve guessed that this was some secret passageway or something—like a door to a new world. Or maybe a secret lair! How cool would that be? But alas, the reality is that this was probably some type of old-school refrigeration system. People would build a special “cold room” and cover it with dirt for insulation. We can’t deny that this isn’t a cool idea.
Sewing the Seeds of Love
Isn’t it amazing how something incredibly obvious to you is a complete mystery to someone else based on each of your own knowledge and experience? This object is the perfect example! For anyone who sews, it's quite obvious exactly what this is! But for those of you who have no idea how to tailor, no worries, we’re here to help connect the dots. These are some sewing tools to help you sew fabric tubes.
Greetings, Spudnik
Imagine this. You’re walking up to the bus stop, when all of a sudden, you see these oddly shaped objects just chilling like villains on the floor. But the thing is, it’s not just one stop that you see these colorful spikey koosh balls—it’s a repeated occurrence and you keep seeing them appear. These spikey spuds have been popping up all over London, and people are going crazy trying to figure out what they are. They’re not aliens here to take over though, they’re just some really cool potato street art.
Looks All Wood to Us
It’s sort of weird to see logs with screws and chains hanging down from them. Right? It almost looks like an art installation about how industrialization is mixing in with Mother Nature or something. But there’s actually a logical reason for what’s going on here. According to the wondrous minds of the World Wide Web, it’s most likely a system built-in to keep trash cans secured and in place. Which also would explain the perfectly round cement circle on the ground.
Dude. Where’s My Car?
Someone posted that they had found this under their car and wondered what it was. Based on the fact that it says “Autoguard GPS” in big letters, we’re gonna go ahead and guess that it’s a GPD device. The thing is, this isn’t just any old GPS Device. The Autoguard is known to be a tracking device so that you can keep track of your vehicle, which would be great if you were the one who installed it, so we hope that this Reddit user’s car is okay!
Watch Me Nay Nay
We’re not really sure why the person who found this thinks that it has something to do with a tie, specifically. We guess the end could help untie a tie or something, but even that seems like a long shot. Then again, our initial guess was incorrect, as well. The truth is that this is a horse hoof pick, used to clean out any dirt, debris, snow, rocks, etc. from a horse’s hoof. And here we thought it was some type of bottle or can opener. Oops!
As Sharp as Glass
You know how sometimes you look at an object and think to yourself that you might have at least some idea of what it might be? But then when you find out what it actually is, you’re so far off, you can’t even comprehend how anyone came up with the original idea in the first place? This is one such object. This pair of scissor-like glass balls is a rare glass ball marble razor knife sharpener. Who would’ve thought?
Locked & Loaded
This is actually quite an interesting find. Have you ever seen one of these? Don’t worry, it’s not anything dangerous—although it does sort of look like a bullet or ammo for something, right? Especially given the size with the permanent marker there for reference, it’s a bit spooky. Rest assured, though, the detectives of the Internet confirmed that this is just a utility lock. If anything, it’ll keep you safe and can really save you when you’re in a pinch.
